This glaze it’s all about the formula

Ceramics production cannot be compared to an exact science, formulas are constantly being explored, results are not always as expected, and it takes a lot of trial and error to reach the desired end result, or sometimes an unexpected but exciting result.

But it’s this beauty of ceramics that motivates us so much!

At Arfai we are in constant search of new techniques to bring more personality to our pieces and respond to the demands of our clients.

We know the power and beauty of speckles, but we wanted to take them to another level.

The use of speckles in the decoration of the pieces is something we have been working on for the last years.

The method?

Besides the normal glaze of the piece, it goes through a special glazing, where the mixture is made with grit and a glass that melts differently. As soon as it comes out of the kiln we can already see the amazing result! This glazing combination eventually runs down the piece and forms a unique color stain with speckles.

The shape of each piece is its essence and the decoration its personality. The manipulation of production methods allows us to create different and exclusive ceramic products.

Results are not always the same, but that’s what makes them so special.
