Arfai had the honor of participating in the first day of the Congress of the International Ceramics Academy, which took place for the first time in Portugal, in a joint organization between the Municipalities of Alcobaça and Caldas da Rainha.

It was a truly special day. The city was packed with delegates from more than 50 countries, who were able to explore our ceramics industry up close, visiting our factories and attending various lectures and cultural events. The energy and enthusiasm of everyone could be felt in the air.

The day was marked by an historic moment for the city of Alcobaça, with the signing of the donation of the ceramic pieces from the Pereira de Sampaio Collection, made up of 2300 pieces that tell the history of ceramics in Alcobaça, from the first factories to today. An exciting moment, especially for those who, over the years, have worked tirelessly to make the Alcobaça Ceramics Museum a reality.

Dr. Jorge Pereira de Sampaio, heir to the collection, generously donated this collection of great historical and artistic value to the city, in tribute to his parents, Maria do Céu and Luís Pereira de Sampaio, whose names are deeply linked to the history of ceramics in Alcobaça..

A very good day for Alcobaça, which truly marks the preservation of the city’s cultural heritage, reinforcing its position as a reference center in the world of ceramics.
