Capsule: A Blooming Escape

Answering a shared aspiration of disconnection and escapeArfai proposal is to bring indoors a sense of refugee and cocooning, with its new line: CAPSULE. Composed in a set of vase, box, and t-light, Capsule recreates the common shape of a capsule, presenting voluminous rounded shapes and soft edges, which remind us that tuning out the world around us is possible.

Since its launching in past February, feedback on this shape is quite positive: “the public likes it, feels attracted to it, without knowing why”, states Arfai Senior Designer, Tânia Gonçalves. A reaction that is not a coincidence:

“Capsule is born from a long and intensive work of research and development. It has a shape that makes sense nowadays – intentionally.”, she explains.

HANGING THE ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ SIGN

Trends come and go, but according to Arfai creative team, one social phenomenon that keeps influencing fashion, lifestyle, and interiors over the past seasons is the need for disconnection from the hyper-connected lives we live in. A theme that has been explored in Arfai past collections (remember EXPERIENCING’17 and CONNECTION’16) and a tendency that pushes consumers to prefer whatever that recalls this idea of unpluggingneutral calming shades, use of recomforting materials, meaningful pieces, everything that evokes a meditative atmosphere or a more mindful way of living.

Without being pretentious, once Capsule is just an accessory and a detail for the home, it offers an intention. Decorated in a soft gradient finish recalling calmness and lightness and in a tactile engobe glaze inviting a sensorial experience, the line is available both with or without relief.
