At Arfai, being specialized in the manufacture of decorative ceramics for 25 years, our commitment is to keep up with the main worldwide trends to offer our trade customers a valuable and adequate selection of products. Not the temporary ‘trends’ that are fast to come and go; but the long-term ones that by influencing lifestyles and behaviors, influence forthcoming buying choices.
How do we do it? We start by asking ourselves what role home will play in the future and, so, what will buyers want to have there. Then we observe, research, read magazines and trend books, visit fairs and exhibitions and, finally, experiment and develop. After Between Collection in 2018 and the latest Hide&Seek launched a year ago, what will 2020/2021 collection bring? We have selected 2 main trends to entice your curiosity.
3,2,1: GROUNDING, CENTERING, AND SHIELDING
The excess of technology, the overstimulating urban environments, the stressful daily routines, the always online and connected, the climate crisis and the planet shouting for attention. Phenomena that are taking individuals to reach a high-pressure point. They feel tired and overwhelmed, and willing to get grounded by reconnecting with what really matters, the essential: nature. A desire to regenerate the human connection with the planet earth, that is brought to the many aspects of daily life and that is highly influencing the way the “house” is conceived by each one of us.
EMBRACING CRAFTMANSHIP
Connected to the above, more value is being given to what is made outside of the vicious circle of consumerism. Individuals do recognize the unique value of products made by hand and are increasingly embracing the sense of truth craftsmanship offers. We see this emerging for fashion, lifestyle choices, and for interiors as well.
So, do get ready for distinct shapes, which deny a ‘mass-production’ look, and for revealing decoration techniques that assume and celebrate the artisan touch behind our ceramics.
