Sustainability: Arfai invests in renewable energy

While the world strikes for the Climate, calling on real action for the environment, Arfai announces the installation of a Self-Consumption Production Unit using Photovoltaic Solar Technology. A small big step in the company’s commitment to be a greener, more conscious and more sustainable company.

This project allows the company to produce energy from a renewable resource (the sun), powering the system for self-consumption and reducing the energy spent from the public grid. The Unit now installed counts with 239 photovoltaic panels and total power of 74.09 kWp. Technical details that translated mean an esteemed production of 120 000 kWp a year. Almost half of the company’s average annual consumption.

“We are talking about a 60 000 € investment, with a payback of less than 5 years that will allow us to keep producing power for up to 20 to 25 years. We are saving energy, being thus more competitive in the international markets, while our performance is greener. In sum: benefits are immediate and the financial return quite appealing”, explains Carla Moreira, Arfai CEO.

CONSCIOUS CONSUMERS, GREENER BRANDS

Consumers are more and more demanding. They demand to know the story of the products they buy: how they are made, from which materials and in which conditions. This is a reality that has been requiring brands from all over the world to answer purposefully. We see industries reducing the impact of their means of production/distribution. We see brands investing in sustainable processes, committing themselves with the environment and with ethical and fair trade.

“Today, a company’s environmental conscious is a decisive factor”, states Carla, showing how Arfai, a traditional industry, is concerned in keeping up with these tendencies:

“We already recycle all used water in our own WWTP, reusing thousands of liters of water every year. This is is the way we should trace, for the future of our business and for the future of our planet.”
