2018 has just started and besides working on making New Year’s Eve resolutions come true, it is the best time to start on planning new projects. As a professional in the field of the interior design, this maybe means you are asking yourself the same we have been asking ourselves for the past few months – what do tomorrow’s homes will want?
In counting down for the big launch, Arfai’s new collection will gather a selection of new decorative ceramic pieces that will fit the major trends of the upcoming seasons. Check below what’s hot in-home accessories and get to know what to expect from us – make sure you’ll make the best decisions for your shelves (or homes).
Meaningful and ‘mine’
Phenomena like the advent of global environmental threats, the rise of the nomad society or the growing urbanization, are shifting consumers’ behavior – with houses getting smaller and consumers more conscious the tendency is to avoid what is superfluous. So, will objects in general (and decorative accessories in particular) loose importance? No. What we have found is that consumers are relying on details to personalize their lives and spaces – objects are a way of adding an emotional and personal touch to our homes, making them express who they are.
Meaningful pieces with a reliable source: wait to see the beautiful new developments we are about to reveal; and about the source, our giving back to the community attitude speaks for us.
Shape: Mid-century nostalgy
For this season, expect a lot of inspiration from the 50’s:
“Geometric shapes defined by its function, some straight lines, and soft curves. And complementing these “modest” shapes, we will present other novelties that keeping simplicity will evoke the pleasure of details” reveals Tânia Gonçalves, Arfai Senior Designer.
A handful of new designs, to be presented together with existing ones but that gained a new life by having innovative finishes and decorations applied.
Losing the fear of color
Research has led us to find that more than ever color will be playing a nuclear role, as a way to awaken emotions, senses and to recreate environment and aspirations. Either following a more Nordic style or opting for a more southern one – color will be key in details as accessories, wall painting, textiles and so on.
Spoiler alert: If in last year’s collection, pattern and texture were the highlights, this season prepare yourself for unlikely chromatic pallets, to be used in innovative finishes mostly resulting from handmade decoration techniques.
