Arfai invited to discuss the future of Portuguese ceramics

Arfai was one of the speakers during the first day of the Ceramics Technical Days 2017, an event that took place in Coimbra, and where the company was invited to speak about “Internationalization: Challenges and Constraints”.

In a panel moderated by Alexandre CamposCOMPETINOV CEO, who introduced this theme using the paradigm VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) as a explanation of today’s business environment, and composed by Luís Castro Henriques, from AICEPMarco Mussini, Chairman at Gres Panaria Portugal and Gonçalo Lobo Xavier, Board Advisor at AIMMAPCarla Moreira, spoke on behalf of Arfai and mostly on behalf of the business sector.

Sharing an experience of more than two decades managing a company with around 98% export volume, Arfai CEO identified the main competitive critical factors of the business throughout this period and the way these factors have changed.

“We moved from a Made in Portugal initially hidden by our customers, to a Made In Portugal that is today a statement that is highly valued by them and, of course, more and more known by the final consumer” stated Carla Moreira, concluding a short speech that was considered an “inspiration” to the audience.

The event took place at Quinta das Lágrimas, in Coimbra, and it was organized by CTCV and APICER, with the aim of discussing the future of ceramics sector in Portugal. According to this association, Portuguese ceramics has reached one billion euro turnover during 2016 and was responsible, in 2014, for employing around 15 900 people.
